The Certified Internal Auditors (CIA) designation has become more popular in recent years because of accounting and fraud scandals and new legislation requiring public corporations to certify their internal controls. The Institute of Internal Auditors Sponsors the CIA exam and awards it. This exam is offered trougrouht the world ( French website of CIA exam).Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, and agree to adhere to the code of ethics outlined by the Institute of Internal Auditors

How to prepare you to the ?

     1.   The formal step, at first, read the handbook and CIA exam content which can be found in CIA website www.theiia.org.
     2.   Downland Standardsfor the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (SPPIA)from CIA web. Remember, this is your primary and the most useful material that will help you to pass the exam. Read it again and again, and understand it well!
     3.   Practice! Do exercise, and use SPPIA to help you correct the answer. For each question, you can always find a relevant standard applicable. Here, I recommend Wiley CIA Exam Review, which is more close to the exam.
     4.   The first three steps probably will be enough if you are not totally fresh in accounting world. If you are, and not confident after completing above steps, you could choose to buy Sawyer's Internal Auditing or just borrow one from library to improve understanding. And then, good luck!

The pass rate for the CIA exam averages approximately 45%, this designation is awarded to those who successfully demonstrate proficiency, knowledge and experience in their field. In fact, candidates must be knowledgeable and proficient in the following key areas: internal audit roles, planning and supervising an auditing engagement, information technology, statistics and sampling, financial accounting, managing resources and pricing controls, structural analysis and strategies, strategic decision making, organizational structure, and time management and negotiation. Candidates who obtain the CIA designation can apply their skills and knowledge in any business environment, and have the opportunity to advance in their careers.
